ESSER Funds

In the name of the Covid, the United States Congress authorized almost $200 billion in aid to the states’ Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund. The primary use of these funds was to reopen schools and address learning losses. However, there were political strings attached. In order to receive the grants, states had to agree to teach CRT and to address mental health by implementing SEL.
